Will I keep my FERS Special retirement coverage if I take another paper-pushing job at my next bureau/agency job?

Also, how does VERA work for those working in a FERS Special retirement position? For example, if I have three years to being retirement eligible (age 47 now, retire at 50 with over 20 hrs FERS Special), would I be able to "retire early" and still collect SS supplement and a pension?
